Be My Winter Friend

White puffs fall from the sky,
Covering the barren wasteland
With a pale undulating blanket-
On the astonishing vastness.
Stiff and fragile bare branches,
Speak of once crowned beauty,
As sorrows of drizzle fall,
One by one to the ground.
A blink of an eye is the day,
Endless have become the nights.
Bitter coldness creep its way,
Into my already damp world.
Flicker of hope lies dormant,
Seeking a fire on the hearth.
Let not the warmth be a nemesis.
A sigh escapes with a shudder,
To hear the crackling flame.
Do not come for a season,
Come what may, my friend!
Till eternal darkness conquers me.
